A Colorful Collaboration Between Art Fun Studio and CAMBA
This April, Art Fun Studio had the wonderful opportunity to partner with CAMBA organization for a special art event at M.S. 246 Walt Whitman in Brooklyn. The collaborative field trip brought together students, volunteers, and staff for a creative afternoon of painting Brooklyn’s iconic Verrazano Bridge reimagined as a whimsical snow globe.

Bringing Brooklyn Landmarks to Life Through Art
Students were invited to express their creativity by choosing between two artistic visions: a vibrant spring-themed snow globe with splashes of color, or a serene winter scene dominated by cool blues and whites. With 12 different paint colors at their disposal, each young artist created their own unique interpretation of this Brooklyn landmark.
Our team guided the students through a step-by-step process, first establishing their backgrounds before adding the main elements of the Verrazzano Bridge and snow globe. The progression allowed students to build confidence in their artistic abilities while learning new painting techniques.
Creating an Authentic “Sip & Paint” Experience
Site Director Kaveen Wilkinson played an instrumental role in making this event special. To recreate the atmosphere of a traditional “sip and paint” studio, she arranged for sparkling apple cider and juices served in elegant glasses, giving students the full artistic experience in a kid-friendly way.
“We wanted to create an environment where creativity could flourish while students felt special and inspired,” explained one of our Art Fun Studio instructors. “Seeing their faces light up as their artwork took shape was truly rewarding.”
Celebrating Art with a Pizza Party
After completing their masterpieces, students were treated to a surprise pizza party organized by Ms. Wilkinson. What better way to celebrate spring in New York than with beautiful artwork and delicious pizza? The combination created the perfect ending to an afternoon of creative expression and community building.
The Power of Creative Field Trips
This collaboration between Art Fun Studio and CAMBA demonstrates the impact that creative field trip activities can have on students. Beyond simply providing entertainment, these experiences offer valuable opportunities for self-expression, skill development, and community connection.
CAMBA’s mission of building an inclusive New York City where all children have access to resources and supports they need to thrive perfectly aligned with our goals at Art Fun Studio. By bringing artistic experiences directly to schools, we hope to inspire the next generation of creators while celebrating the iconic landmarks that make Brooklyn special.
